1. Advertise, advertise, advertise! This is a crucial step for any business, and if you are an internet-based business it’s even more so. You can often get free advertising with some well written community newspaper articles and pres releases, all which you can do yourself.

2. Network. Also a crucial part of doing business, you can increase your networking potential by volunteering, requesting references, and attending community functions.

3. Hit the online forums. If you are selling blue widgets, there will be a blue widget user’s forum out there somewhere. Get on, start posting, and make your presence known.

4. Get a nice website. Have a pro do a simple website with order forms for you if necessary. Make sure it’s hosted by a reliable company and you get good support.

5. Write articles. Post your blue widget articles on your website, and offer them to other appropriate webmasters to use for free—establish yourself as an expert.

6. Blog it. If you can and have time, set up a blog on your website; if not, there are lots of blog sites out on the internet. Log on and use them!

7. Just be a good business person. So many times a business is mediocre and the owners don’t know why—most of the time it’s because service was mediocre. Be the best!

1. Executive Summary – Just like with any other traditional business plan, Internet business plans need an executive summary too. An executive summary serves as an summary of everything in the Internet business plan, and would include a very general website description, mission, and a summary of projected financial.

2. Website Summary – The website summary gives the reader or potential investor a glimpse of what the company is and what they do. It should describe the website or online business in every detail, as well as some general information about its market or niche. Remember the BIG 5 W’s who, what, when, where, and why.

Example:- Who is the owner of the website. What is the site all about or offering? When is it going to be launched. Where is the site hosted. Why the site is being conceive or launch in the first place?

3. Management Group – This section is very important and could decide the fate of an Internet business. As this section is plan properly can help Internet Business Owners to realize the site strengths and weaknesses in their own market or niche. This is also upmost important if the owner wishes to seek outside financing from a bank or investor. Then the owner needs to include all management educational credentials as well as relevant business and industry experience of each member in themanagement team.

4. Marketing Plan – A marketing plan is the ultimate section of any Internet business plan. It MUST include a SWOT analysis as well as information on primary competitors. Owners should also outline the demographics of your target market. The marketing plan will also include a list detailing planned marketing tactics. The major difference for an Internet Business as compared to Brick and Motar Business is 99.9% as an owner, you’ll be more focused on search engine optimization (SEO), link-building and exchanging plus online advertising in major Search Engines (SE).

5. Financial Projections – Owners need to project a basic budget detailing startup capital and fore casted business expenses. If owners plan to pursue financing options, the owners must also include financial / profit projections for duration one to three years, with any relevant supporting information to justify those financial projections to potential investors.
